The Story Behind #RiseUp4Families
Years ago, this program began with modest ambitions. Initially, it was all about assisting a coworker who found themselves in the hospital battling COVID-19 and in need of support. Soon after, our focus shifted to aiding another colleague whose spouse faced the devastating challenge of a late-stage cancer diagnosis.
Time and again, our employees would rally around stories of individuals and families in need of that extra boost. As more team members saw the tangible difference their contributions made, a spark ignited within our community. The concept of a bank-wide approach to offering this level of support began to take shape. From these collective efforts, the #RiseUp4Families initiative came to life.
The Impact We Are Making Together
From our start in 2021, our #RiseUp4Families donations and support initiatives have touched the lives of close to 200 local families.
Below are some of the causes we are proud to have supported over the years:
- A child born with severe health issues
- Family that had 4 family members fighting cancer all at the same time (all brothers and sisters)
- Foster parent who was caring for an infant with cancer
- Families who lost their homes in fires & tornados
- Someone who was severely burned in a fire
- Children needing medical care and surgery
- Many battling cancer and other major medical issues such as liver transplants, brain tumor removal, eye surgery, and amputations
- Provided a young person with funds to help her get a prosthetic leg
- Death of family members after long illnesses
- Unexpected deaths of young children/mothers who left behind young families
Community Initiatives:
- Bike drive
- School supply drive
- Coat drive for kids
- Stuff the Turkey Food Drive
- Toiletry collection donated to shelters
- Fill the gap drive for kids (kits for kids in schools)
- Christmas projects ranging from senior centers, to adopting a family, providing gifts and food, providing kids in need with Christmas gifts, food boxes for kids during the holidays, and angel trees
- Duffle Bag drive for kids in foster care
- Halloween costume collection donated to kids in foster care
- Garage sales
- Golf Tournaments
Making a Difference with #RiseUp4Families
At Dream First Bank, we understand that community banking isn't just a business; it's a platform to enact positive change right in our backyard.
